At Maize Valley Winery, you can taste our wines before you buy. Our tasting room is open Monday through Saturday during normal hours and closed on Sundays. Ohio law requires us to charge for tasting, most samples cost 25 cents, a few of our specialty wines are $1 for a sample.
Our tasting room is a destination housed inside a rustic barn built in the 1860s. We refurbished it in 2000 to showcase the original sandstone walls and hand-hewn timber beams, creating a relaxing place for you to enjoy fresh flavors from our farm.
Because we make great wine fun at Maize Valley Winery, we want you to relax and enjoy your visit to our tasting room. A few simple tips can maximize your tasting experience:
- Swirl the wine, then sniff. As silly as it seems, swishing can activate odors and flavors. This heightens a wine’s full profile – because your sense of smell plays a big role in tasting.
- Taste dry wines before sweet wines, and white wines before reds, so the flavors can build without confusing your palate.
- Most importantly, have fun and enjoy!
Wine tasting can work up your appetite, so try pairing your wine samples with homemade breads and sweets from our bakery, local meats and cheeses from our deli or enjoy a delicious meal in our winery café.
