SUMMARY:Oktoberfest
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun weekend of fall fun on October 8 & 9\, 2022 when we feature our Maize Valley Oktoberfest Beer complete with a commemorative Oktoberfest Ceramic Stein. \nThis year’s Stein will be available for purchase both inside the main market building (no ticket necessary) as well as at the beer truck which is inside our fall activities area. \nIf you are dining with us\, we will also offer several food specials for the weekend. If you plan to visit the winery/brewery/dining – you do not need a ticket. \nMaize Valley’s Oktoberfest (slightly scaled down from the Munich festival) will not only feature our Oktoberfest beer\, but also our Pumpkin Cannon Ale – a fall favorite! \nThe origins of Oktoberfest date back to the year 1810 in Munich Germany. Today\, this festival is the largest in the world with over 6 million guests attending each year. \nMaize Valley’s Oktoberfest (slightly scaled down from the Munich festival) will not only feature our Oktoberfest beer\, but also our Pumpkin Cannon Ale – a fall favorite! \nThe History of Oktoberfest \nCrown Prince Ludwig\, later to become King Ludwig I\, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810. The citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. The fields have been named Theresienwiese (“Theresa’s fields”) in honor of the Crown Princess ever since\, although the locals have since abbreviated the name simply to the “Wies’n”. \nHorse races in the presence of the Royal Family marked the close of the event that was celebrated as a festival for the whole of Bavaria. The decision to repeat the horse races in the subsequent year gave rise to the tradition of the Oktoberfest. \nThe Oktoberfest continues in 1811\nIn 1811 an added feature to the horse races was the first Agricultural Show\, designed to boost Bavarian agriculture. The horse races\, which were the oldest and – at one time – the most popular event of the festival are no longer held today. But the Agricultural Show is still held every three years during the Oktoberfest on the southern part of the festival grounds. \nIn the first few decades the choice of amusements was sparse. The first carousel and two swings were set up in 1818. Visitors were able to quench their thirst at small beer stands which grew rapidly in number. In 1896 the beer stands were replaced by the first beer tents and halls set up by enterprising landlords with the backing of the breweries. \nThe remainder of the festival site was taken up by a fun-fair. The range of carousels etc. on offer was already increasing rapidly in the 1870s as the fairground trade continued to grow and develop in Germany. \nToday\, the Oktoberfest is the largest festival in the world\, with an international flavor characteristic of the 21th century: some 6 million visitors from all around the world converge on the Oktoberfest each year. \nAnd since the Oktoberfest is still held on the Theresienwiese\, the locals still refer to the event simply as the “Wies’n”. So “welcome to the Wies’n” means nothing other than “welcome to the Oktoberfest”!

King Ludwig I\, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Oktoberfest continues in 1811\n\nIn 1811 an added feature to the horse races was the first Agricultural Show\, designed to boost Bavarian agriculture. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nToday\, the Oktoberfest is the largest festival in the world\, with an international flavor characteristic of the 21th century: some 6 million visitors from all around the world converge on the Oktoberfest each year. \nAnd since the Oktoberfest is still held on the Theresienwiese\, the locals still refer to the event simply as the “Wies’n”. So “welcome to the Wies’n” means nothing other than “welcome to the Oktoberfest”! \n\n\n\n[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

King Ludwig I\, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Oktoberfest continues in 1811\n\nIn 1811 an added feature to the horse races was the first Agricultural Show\, designed to boost Bavarian agriculture.

SUMMARY:Classic Car Cruise - Meet In the Meadow
DESCRIPTION:This is a big time “spectator” event with many people who don’t have a cruiser just stop by to check out the cars\, stroll the grounds and enjoy one of our craft beers or award winning wines! Food and Non-Alcoholic beverages for sale as well! \nFor additional details\, check out the event on Facebook: https://fb.me/e/2OsOKzJlg \nMark you Cruise In Calendars for Thursdays Mid-May through September 2022. There are 20 dates on the schedule for the 2022 season. \nThank you to everyone who visited with us in 2021 and so far in 2022! We made a lot of changes moving the event up back to the grass lots in 2021 and it went very well.\n2022 is running much like 2021 did. We are working on expanding the outside food menu selection to accommodate cruiser families with a children’s menu option.\nA lot will depend up consistent availability of the menu items. Believe it our not we had a challenge getting potato chips recently. So week to week we are on our toes. It keeps you sharp! \nSummit Racing will be back as the Anchor Sponsorship along with a few others as well. Stop and get a Door Prize Ticket if you have driven a “Classic Car” or other vehicle of note. We will call out numbers throughout the evening for a variety of Summit Racing SWAG or other items we have available. \nThe up-back activities area will also be open for people of all ages to come out and play. We have a giant tractor tire crawl and slide and a few other things for kids of all ages to play on. Not all attractions are open as the spring/summer months are used for improvements and maintenance. \nFREE wagon rides around the farm leave from the area behind the Orange D.J. Booth. We usually run two or three trips an evening. Most days we have a charity 50/50 organization selling tickets as well as car raffles and other folks working to raise funds for great local causes. A lot of this portion ebbs and flows with the weather\, stay tuned to the Maize Valley Gearhead FB group page for day of event updates. \nWe have done some more hardscaping on the areas immediately behind the main pavilion with shade clothes and seating available. The big tents are still on site just around the corner from our Backyard Bar area located in the Smaller Tan building on the East or right side of the driveway as you enter at the base of the hill. \n*Please NO outside food or beverages (that’s sorta how we pay to do events like this). We appreciate ya’ll stopping by and showing off your ride but please don’t expect us to provide a beautiful parking area\, restrooms and throw away another businesses wrappers\, okay? \n*Please NO Pets. We have livestock on the property and while a well behaved tiny wiener dog (pick ur cute “compact critter”) may not seem like a issue we have had problems with some larger getting dogs off leash and try to tangle with our goats. We just don’t have the resources to make case by case evaluations of everyone’s best furry friend.
