Vignoles is one of the French-American hybrids that Maize Valley picked to plant in the fields where sweet corn used to grow. A regular “polar bear” of the grape world, it lives happily in the harsh winter climate of the Maize Valley vineyards. Bud break is late, reducing the risk of spring freeze injury.
Vignoles is often prized for its ability to produce balanced and fruity late-harvest style semi-sweet and sweet white wines that have delicate floral aromas combined with tropical flavors of citrus, pineapple and apricot. Maize Valley Vignoles is an Ohio Quality Award winning wine. Take the time to sample one of Ohio’s best!

Vignoles is very nice with spicy dishes or meals with a fragrant element. Coconut curries garnished with lime go well, especially when there is a touch of heat with the spice, which makes the wine seem drier and accentuates the citrus notes. Pork loin works well when paired with some of the aromatic notes in the wine. Vignoles works well with semi-firm cheeses and works well as a marinade to add a touch of sweetness to chicken or pork. Maize Valley catering offers Apricot Glazed Pork Chops and Duck with Orange Wine Sauce.
