Red Wines

Red wine is made by fermenting grapes that range in color from red to purple or even blue. Because skins are used along with juice from these grapes during fermentation, red wines take on colors like ruby red, maroon or almost black.

Grape skins also give red wine a source of tannins, which is the pucker-up effect that can leave your mouth feeling dry. Full-bodied red wines typically contain more tannins (and, often, alcohol), while light-bodied reds taste mellower.

Both the color and dryness of red wines depend on the types of grapes used and how long skins stayed in contact with the juice. Browse through Maize Valley’s red wines to find what suits your palate!
