Step Into the Past - August 15 & 16, 2009 as Maize Valley hosts  a Civil War Reenactment.   Interested participants should preregister using this Civil War Reenactment Registration form.  Find more information by reading the Civil War Reenactment Participant Letter, then directing questions to Pam Allen at tommysgirl1863@yahoo.com.

This event is organized by the 23rd OVI Co B & US Civil War Ladies Auxiliary Association, Inc.  Mike Lavis, 49th NYI will be the Union Commander and Overall Military Commander.  He will be joined by Mike Dallas, 150th PVI "Bucktails", as the Confederate Commander.

There will be actual battles re-created on the farm fields of Maize Valley Farm Market & Winery, complete with cannons and muskets.  Hours on Saturday 9:00 - 5:00.  Sunday's hours are 9:00 - 4:00 with church service in the morning.

Step Into the Past and visit the sutlers village - watch blacksmithing, quilting, weaving, soap & lotion making, dipping of candles, listen to dulcimer music, enjoy children's games of the era.

There will be many national organizations partcipating such as Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Daughters of Union Veterans, Sons of Union Veterans, Colonial Dames, Buffington Island, Johnson's Island and more.

Join in the Saturday Evening dance with the Anonymous String Band - cheer on your favorite soldier as they participate in the muzzloader contest.   The Saturday evening dance is at 8:00 p.m.  Public invited to come join us.

Smell the aromas of the pies being baked by the soldier's wives as they participate in the pie baking contest.

Bring your whole family and spend the day.  Maize Valley will be offering numerous concessions.  There will even be special commemorative bottles created for this event available on Saturday the 15th.
